'Mum had struggled with her weight too, and she was determined that I wouldn’t be a fat youngster. Miss Smith said: ‘I was always a plump child and at the age of eight, my mother took me to see a dietitian who gave me some diet sheets. Miss Smith, who lives with partner Michael Barr, in Northampton, started to try to lose weight at the age of ten, when her mother decided to put her on a diet. But now all these years later, I’m slimmer than I was at 11, which is hard to believe.’ ‘At age 11, I weighed 11 stone, and I never thought I’d be able to do anything about my weight.
